Lloyd E. Robinson, 86, of Hawkeye, died after a two year battle with lung cancer on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at his rural farm home south of Hawkeye where he lived most of his life.
Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday,April 25, 2015, at the United Methodist Church in Hawkeye with Lay Servant Mona Christie officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 24th at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Hawkeye and for one hour preceding services at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to them for distribution to various organizations later.
Lloyd Eugene, son of Walter A. and Belle (Brown) Robinson, was born April 9, 1929, at the Robinson farm. He graduated from Hawkeye High School in 1947, working during high school as a farm laborer, then worked on a section crew for the Milwaukee Railroad for two years. He then worked as a hired man for Lee Pleggenkuhle until he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1951. He served in Korea for two years prior to returning home where he started farming on the Robinson farm. He was united in marriage with Donna D. Boess on November 27, 1953. Three sons were born to them: Gary, Steven, and Kurt. Lloyd was a longtime member of the Arnold-Rogers Post #312, American Legion of Hawkeye where he served many years on the color guard at football games.
In addition to his wife, Donna of Hawkeye, Lloyd is survived by three sons, Gary (Ronda) and Steven (Robin) of Hawkeye, and Kurt (Brenda) of Bellevue, Nebraska; grandchildren, Mike, Heather, Morgan, Nick (Taylor) and Samantha Robinson, Dan (Michele) and Lindsey Bauer, and Katie, Maria (Bret), Cristene, and Brian Sodama of Nebraska; great grandchildren, Mikenzie, Conner, Natalie, and Elizabeth; and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Robinson of Creston.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Ruth Banning, Virginia Becker, and Edith Parker; and one brother, Robert Robinson.
